My Great Grandmother Keller’s maiden name was Barbara Verts of Bausel, Switzerland. Her father was Major of the city. Her son Martin Keller came to Baltimore when eighteen years old, and worked in his trade as a turner on Gay Street. From Baltimore he came to Manheim, Lancaster Co, Pa where he was married to Sallie Mohler, whose mother was a Landis. Sallie Mohler Keller was bon near Ephrata in the old Henry Mohler mansion still, at this date, May 1892, occupied by one of the descendants.
My Grandfather, Martin Keller, Redenfleu Village, Basel, Countytown, Switzerland. Moved from Manheim, Lancaster Co, in the year 1803 to the farm “Barbace” half a mile from Mechanicsburg, bought from Simon Krause at ten pounds an acre, about 140 acres, 20 or 30 acres clear land, the rest scrubby timber. He hired men to do the farming and himself following his trade making chains and turning. His older brother, John Keller, remained in Baltimore. His sister Elizabeth settled in the “west”. We thin she married a Brubaker. John’s daughter Elizabeth married Schnauber; Mary married Henis; by his second wife were Barbara, married to John Doster, Jacob Keller Mt Cernon and John Keller, Mechanicburg, PA who died 1892.
