John Coover was my Great Great Grandfather, father of Ann Elizabeth Coover, who married Levi Kauffman and were the parents of Percival Coover Kauffman, the father of my dad, Walter Lee Kauffman 2nd.
His father was George Coover, who farmed the plantation at Cedar Spring. His grandfather was Dietrich Kober, Palatine Immigrant of 1730.
John was born in 1787 and died in 1862. John had four brothers and four sisters. He left the farm in 1816 and moved to Mechanicsburg where he opened a hardware store. He married three years later to Salome Keller Coover and had five daughters, and one son, who died in infancy. In their earlier years, they lived in the Ivy House, then later, gave that home to Levi and Ann Kauffman and moved next door into the Coover Home.
