(John) George Coover, son of Dietrich Kober, Palatine immigrant of 1730, was born Jan 7, 1741 and died in 1820. He was baptized by Rev. Casper Stoever Feb 2, 1741. sponsors: John Egedius Hoffman and his wife. He was born in Lancaster County, PA, moved to Allen township, Cumberland county, PA.
John served as private in the Cumberland County Militia 1781-1782, 6th Company, 3rd Battalion, commanded by Colonel Samuel Irwin and Captain James McCurdy PA Archives 3rd Series.
He married Elizabeth Mohler Oct , 1764 who was born in 1743 and died in 183. The Marriage was performed by Rev. Nicholas Hornell at York, PA, pastor of the German Lutheran Congregation;

Both are buried in Barbace cemetery near Mechanicsburg, PA.

Thank you very much. My ancestor was his son, Jacob. I have visited Mechanicsburg and was able to find the Cemetery behind the Mobil Home Park near the railroad tracks. To access, you must pass through a thick thicket. I went through and was cut up pretty badly by the bushes and trees.

Glad you found it. I got the Boy Scouts to clean it up twice now. The last time in 2018, they put gravel down and cleaned a path thru on the left adjacent to the train tracks. I fear that it is overgrown again.
