Christian Kauffman is said to come from Swabia Germany in 1717. He is the son of Isaac Kauffman and Elizabeth J Barbara Brubaker. who came to Manor township in 1711. He married Barbara Baer, daughter of Henry Baer of East Hempfield. Christian was deeded 142 acres of the original Isaac Kauffman tract but disposed of it and moved to a larger tract just east of Washington Boro, “where he lies”.
