Welcome to the second posting of the Kauffman Family Blog.
First, I would like to encourage you to send me stories of what is going on in your family or even stories of interest from the past. I can always grab bits of information from Facebook or Instagram, but the stories with the pictures are what makes it really interesting.
Second, be sure to send comments, what you like, what you don’t like, what you want to see in future stories. You can send them to me at kaufpw@gmail.com.
So, today I was thinking what to talk about. Last week, we talked about Walter Lee Kauffman. He was the older brother of Edith Belle Kauffman and of course, my grandfather, Percival Coover Kauffman.
But I think today, I will write about Katharine Barton Kauffman, my grandmother, the wife of Percival. You youngsters out there do not know what it is like to have no living grandparents when you grow up. But, Walter Lee, Mary, Nancy and I did not have a living grandparent when we grew up. Percival Coover Kauffman died in 1914, Katharine Barton Kauffman dies in 1937, Clara Keller Wright dies in 1911 and John Wright dies in 1926. Our parents did not marry until 1937. So, while we had a step-grandmother, Katharine Wright, who was John Wright’s second wife, she was not related to us.
So, researching Katharine Barton Kauffman is fun for me. One of our grandmothers that I know little about.
Enjoy! Katharine Barton Kauffman
